Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and will shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house using a combined gross house income that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined home profits will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent residents from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the right Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are learning or intend to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and more info not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
